Basil:

Variety: Large Italian Leaf

As of mid July, there is a lot of basil in the greenhouse. It is coming in nicely. It enjoys being grown with the tomatoes.

Borage:

Variety: Saved seed from 2025

Flowers began to show up on most of the plants arougn June 14th.

July 15th - All the boarage has begun to flower and some are almost done. Also, many your borage are popping up from overwintered seed.

Bunny Tails:

Variety:

They have been doing very well in the 1/2 gallon buckets. We have tails as of the first week of June.

The tails are really taking off as og June 20th.

As of mid July, the bunny tails are starting to die back. Only 2 of my pots are still going. I transplanted them into the ground to see if they will grow better and get a second wind.

Cabbage:

Variety: O-S Giant

June 15th, the three giant cabbages are doing great. All three are starting to head, and one is showing itself to be a potential large cabbage! Exciting!

In late June I lost one of my cabbages to the root cabbage maggots. I treated the other two with BT and they are doing well. Starting to form nice heads.

Carrot:

Variety: Bolero

Direct Sowed on:  May 2 | Sprouted Around: May 19, 2026

June 5th: I began to thin the carrots, as they were large enough.

July 15th: They are getting large and starting to shoulder.

Celery:

Variety: Utah

As of the end of June, they are getting big. I will start doing a cut and come again harvest so I can freeze it for the winter months.

July 15th: It is doing well and we can start harvesting as of the start of July. One plant has been penty for me.

Cilantro:

Variety: Saved seed from 2025

This has been living in the greenhouse and bolted the first chance it could get. Too hot in there.

Bolted in the greenhouse in late June. In the future, I need to grow this plant outside in the shade and I need to reseed it a few times it we want it for the whole spring.

Craspedia:

Variety: Sun Ball

As of June 15th, we have the first signs of flowers on one plant. They are just doing their thing.

July 15th: We have about 3-5 balls so far. They are slowly coming in.

Cosmo:

Variety: White Cupcake & Black Magic (seed saved from 2025)

They seem to enjoy being in the smaller containers. We chall see how they end. The first blooms began to show up aroud June 10th. As of the end og June, every plant had flowers on it.

July 15th: All have begun to flower. Being in the small pots has stunded some. I moved them into the beds to see if they can bounce back.

Cucumber:

Variety: Sashimi, Socrates, Alaskan White

I had the susmbers in the green house in 3 gallon pots and they are loving it. As of the 15th of June they are all getting tall and many have lutiple cucmber starts and flowers. I may get to make pickles this year!

We harvested our first few (small) Socrates cucumbers in early July. They Socrates and Sashimi are doing well. The small whites have lots of fruit but none seem to be growing. I think they need to be pollinated. They may be a bust if that is the case, as they are in the greenhouse.

July 15th: We have sashimi cucumbers ready to harvest.

Daikon Radish:

Variety: Summit & Alpine

I thinned these around June 5th.

I noticed they were starting to put on flowers (still very low to the green and no bloomed yet) around June 20th. Blerg. I think I give up. I may try one more round of planting.

Started bolting in the first week of July. I think I will reseed and see if I can get a second round to come up. They don't seem to grow well in the heat of the summer, even the anti bolting variety.

Daisy:

Variety: Blue Disc African

As of July 15th we finally have out first flowers opening. They are very fun to look at!

Delphinium:

Variety: Magic Fountains Cherry

The seedlings are all full grown plants now. They won't flower this year but they are beautiful. I look forward to them next year.

As of July 15th all the older Delphinums are getting big and their flowers are forming. They should bloom in a week or so.

Didiskus:

Variety: Lacy Lavender Blue

First flowers were noticed on June 25th. They are doing OK in the small pots, but I will pop a few in the beds to feed the bees and see it that changes how they grow.

As of the start of July they all have flowers. They are cool, I like them. I look forward to seeing how they dry.

Echinops:

Variety: Ritro

July 15th: It is coming along. It has buds but has not bloomed yet.

Foxglove:

Variety: Self seeded from 2024 (second year)

Removed from bed to pots on May 8.

All ended up dying from the translpant. Booooooo!

Surprise, I belive we have foxglove seeds popping up in bed 5 (from the few that bloomed last year). I am trying to move them to the new Bee Beds so they can overwinter and come back next year with blooms!

Green Beans:

Variety: Provider & Seychelles

Rally started doing well when the heat came. Next year, I want to try growing them with the cucumbers in the greenhouse bed. I think they will do bettwe in there. But as of the end of June, many are having their first flowers and are doing well.

As of July 15th, we have greenbeans forming on the bush plants in bed 5. The Pole beans are a bit stunded in bed 3, but that is beacuse they are shaded out by the sun. I do believe they will give us a late run of beans, but they are going to take their time. Next year, think more about plant heights and growing speeds when you creat the bed layouts.

Hyssop:

-Since this is a perennial, I buried Hedwig undeneath them. I planted two hyssop in Bed 1 and will have them live there.

They are slow to grow, but I expect that as they are perennials. Lets see where they are by next year.

As these are perennials, they are just doing their thing. A few have had small blooms, but I am just letting them grow this year. They should be awesome next year!

Lettuce:

Variety: Buttercruch & Grand Rapids & Japenese Mibune

As of the begining of June they are starting to get big.

Had our first large harvest on June 24th. Delicious as always. The Japenese Mibune have begun to bolt, but that it OK. The flavor holds and the pollinators love the flowers.

As of late june we are harvesting heavily from the lettuce. For us, we only need about 4 active lettuce plants going at once. I think my favorite lettuce is the buttercrunch. It has such a great flavor and taste.

Marigold:

Variety: Sugar & Spice (White)

Slow and steady. They got stunded from the cold start to winter. I am sure flowers will come, but none as of the end of June.

July 15th: They are short but have buds. They suffer the same as the pole beans, they are shadowed out by the potatoes. They will come on later in the season, which I have no problem with.

Onion & Shallots:

Variety: Patterson

Seed Started on Jan 18, 2026 | Sprouted Around: Jan 30, 2026 | Planted purchased starts on May 2

-By May 15th, the onions and  shallots began to root and put on fresh growth. I will keep the boards there until the end of the month and remove them when they are straight up.

-As of the end of June, all are doing well and getting big. This is going to be a good onion year!

July 15th - The dixondale nions and shallots are all starting to form nice bulbs. We will have a good havrest from them. My home grown ones are slow but coming along. I think if I had raised them properly from the start, they would be good too. We want starts as thick as pens by mid arpil if we are going to plant them and grow them totally by myself.

Peppers:

Variety: Sugar Rush Peach, Early Jalapeño, Hungarian Wax

They are slow and steady. Not expecting much from they at this time. They love the greenhouse though.

Slow and steady. As of mid July most had their first buds. They are coming along and I do think we will have a late season harvest.

Poppy:

Variety: Amazing Grey, Blue, Champagne Bubbles, Black Peony

Needed to be Cold Stratified

-On May 8, I took many of the overwintered icelandic poppies into northern most section og bed 5. I was able to do this successfully without harming the tap root.

-Around May 12th I saw sprouts coming up in the Blue Poppy tray. Also, around the same time, the Black Poppies began to put on flowers in their pots. Wow. 

-On May 19th, I uppotted the Blue Poppy seedlings. They were put into 2x2 cells that are about 3 inches deep. They will live in there most of the summer as they establish.

-July 15th : The bue poppy is small this year but has about 5 buds. The dark peony poppies are all done save one. The strager ended up being the most beautiful of them all. I am not sure why, it was started and grown the same as all the rest, but this last one has a strong stalk and huge, multi petal flowers.

Pumpkin:

Variety: Atlantic Giant

Really started to get big once June came, with the heat.

First female showed herself around June 10th, but flower is not ready yet. She has lots of male flowers, and she will have many opportunities to be pollinated when she shows herself. The one outside the greenhouse topper is doing well, but father behind the larger pumpkin.

In the first week of July we finally pollinated out first pumpkin. I am watching it's growth. I have 2 others that are gonna need to be pollinated, but I am waiting and may remove them in the poliinated one takes and grows well. Or I may allow this plant to grow a second plant.

Snap Dragon:

Variety: Black Prince

-Growing large, but no flowers as of the end of June. These need to be started much earlier next year.

As of July 15th they finally have their buds. Stay tuned. 

Snap Pea:

They are getting large now. I have many with flowers but no fruit yet. They are all about 3 feet tall at this point.

Snow Pea:

Variety: Oregon

-As of the end of June they are about 1.5-2 feet tall. No flowers yet, but they are getting strong.

Sweet Pea:

As of end of June they are still small. May be getting crowded out by the iclandic poppies planted nearby.

July 15th - Theya re about 1.5 feet tall and slowly growing, They will be late bloomers. Maybe put them in the bee beds next year.

Scabiosa:

Strawflower:

Glowing in the small pots, but dont seem happy. By the end of June, there are no buds yet.

Sunflower:

Getting big as of the end of June. They are about 2 feet tall. The titan in bed 4 has 2 heads. I am confused by this.

As of July 15th they are gorwing adn forming heads. The ones in the beds are about 3 ft tall, the ones in pots and at TMC are abotu 2 feet tall. They bloom in August and September, so just letting them do their thing.

Tomato:

Variety: Aurora Heirloom (saved seed), Polar Baby, Polar Beauty, Rubee Dawn, Roma, Tanana Hybrid.

As of the end of June, all are starting to get big and we have the first round of flowers coming on. I need to get in there and prune them well. They love the greenhouse.

As of July 15th all tomatoes have flowers. The polar babys will be the first to harvest soon, but it did not get big, so it will die the fastest too. The bandywine and roma tomatoes are the slowest.

Thyme:

Variety: Magic Carpet Creeping

Loving the small terracotta pots and are taking off in the greenhouse. I am excited to try and keep this alive over the winter.

As of mid July they are just doing their thing. I am going to uppot them so I can overwinter them in the house.

Note: Start this much earlier next year. Very slow to get going.

Zucchini:

Variety: Costata Romanesco, Grey, White, Round

As of the last week of June, these are huge! We have the first fruits showing up, and they love being under the greenhouse topper.

Using the greehouse topper was a great idea. All the succhini have fruit and I have harvested from many of them. I love the Grey, White and the rounds. I think I will focus on them in the future. They are prolific and tasy, and the fruit is perfect for us.
